Frequently Asked Questions

• The school day begins at 8:55 AM and ends at 3:50 PM
• On Wednesdays, we have early release at 1:35 PM.

SWORD is a 30-minute period at the end of each school day dedicated to academic intervention with a focus on Math and English intervention. Select students will be selected to attend math and/or English SWORD intervention based on data. If not selected for Math or English support, students will report to 3rd period class on Monday's and Tuesday's and 7th period class on Thursday's and Friday's to receive academic support or time to complete academic work.

Students can ask their teacher of record any period to visit their classroom during SWORD and then that teacher will reach out to the 3^rd period or 7^th period depending on the day to "pull" the student. 

Students are expected to use this time productively. To preserve the integrity of this academic period, we ask that students not be signed out during SWORD unless absolutely necessary.

SWORD starts at 3:21PM and ends at 3:50PM when the end of the academic day is completed. 

SWORD takes place from 3:21 PM to 3:50 PM, Monday through Friday, except on early release Wednesdays.

To request a guest bus pass, email Cassie Wyatt (Administrative Clerk) with the following:

• Your student's full name.
• The date they will ride the bus.
• The bus number or route name.
• The name of the friend they are riding with.

Cassie will prepare the pass and have it ready for pickup at the front desk. You may also call the front office at 480-279-8501 to make the request.

Visit our Athletics Page for everything you need to get started. To participate in tryouts, students must be fully approved through Aktivate which includes:

• Completed online registration.
• Passed concussion test with certificate uploaded.
• AIA physical completed and uploaded to Aktivate.

You must come into the front office to sign students in or out.

• A valid photo ID is required.
• We cannot release students until your identity is verified and you are listed as an authorized contact.
• To add someone to the pick-up list, a legal guardian must call the office and request the update.

To foster student independence, we use a locker system for drop-offs:

1. Place the item in a locker in the front office.
2. Label the locker with your student’s full name using a sticky note.
3. If your student has a phone, text them to let them know.
4. If they don’t have a phone, inform the front office staff, and they’ll notify the student’s class during the last 5 minutes of the period.

Please Note: Higley High does not allow item drop-offs, and we aim to prepare students for that level of independence.
