Quarter 2 (2024-2025) Tryout Information:
Boys Basketball - Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, October 15th through Friday, October 18th, 7-8:30 a.m. for 7th grade and 4-5:30 p.m. for 8th grade in the gymnasium.
Softball - Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, October 15th through Thursday, October 17th from 4-5:30 p.m. on the softball fields.
Cross Country - Cross Country is a non-cut sport. Practice for Cross Country will begin on Tuesday, October 15th from 4:00 - 5:00pm on the field. Athletes will meet Coach Hallock and Coach Burke at the concession stand on Tuesday.
Please make sure your athlete is registered through Register My Athlete/Aktivate. If you have not completed this sign-up process, your student will not be eligible to tryout. If you have any questions please see the front office for assistance.

SPARTAN ATHLETIC INFORMATION
Eligibility and Clearance
In an attempt to streamline the athletic clearance process, Sossaman Middle School has gone paperless. Using the enclosed instructions, you will now complete the athletic clearance packet electronically at Register My Athlete. All forms can be viewed and signed electronically, and additional required forms (i.e.-physical forms and concussion test results) can be uploaded to your account. Please follow the enclosed instructions to register your students for athletic clearance for the upcoming/current school year. It is strongly recommended that all documents be submitted electronically prior to the break that precedes your child's sport season (or prior to the school year beginning if participating in a first-quarter sport).
Only physicals completed on AIA athletic clearance page will be accepted. If you have any questions, contact Sossaman Middle School.
2024-2025 AIA Physical Paperwork - To be completed and signed by the parent or guardian and student-athlete. This form must also be signed by the examining medical provider. Physical Form B to be completed and signed by the examining medical provider.

*ONCE SCHOOL RESUMES (from summer or break) ONLY FORMS SUBMITTED PRIOR TO THE END OF LUNCH (1:45 PM) WILL BE CLEARED FOR THAT DAY. ANY FORMS SUBMITTED SUBMITTED LATER IN THE DAY WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE CLEARED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY.
IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION
Prior to the beginning of the athletic season, it is important to know what you and your athlete should expect as the season begins. Please take time to review the SMS Athletics PowerPoint for Parents(bottom-left tab on SMS athletics homepage) with your athlete. Once you have reviewed the presentation, please email Brandon.Keeling@husd.org with any questions or clarifications. Additionally, once your son or daughter has been extended a position on their respective team, the cost for participation is $100 per sport payable to HUSD #60. This fee is non-refundable. Please note, uniforms will not be issued until payment has been received in full.
QUARTER 2 ATHLETIC PICTURES
Our Quarter 2 athletic pictures will be taken on November 6. Please help your student-athlete to remember to bring their uniform on this day.
Remember that uniforms will not be distributed until the athletic fee has been paid. Please see the instructions here.
